Wouldn’t it be great if you could tell at a glance whether a charity spent your donations wisely, and
held itself to high ethical standards? Now you can.Start by looking for the BBB Charity Seal on a charity’s
mailings, on its website, in its advertising, and on TV in public service announcements.
When you see the BBB Charity Seal, you will know that it is a unique logo that can be used only by
charities that meet BBB Standards for Charitable Accountability, commit to continuing to meet these
Standards, address any concerns brought to their attention by the Bureau, and pay an annual fee for the
use of the seal. The purpose of the national BBB Charity Standards and review process is to encourage
fair and honest solicitation practices, to promote ethical conduct by charitable organizations, and to
strengthen public trust in philanthropy.
Charity Seal participants are allowed to use the BBB Charity Seal and approved verbiage to let the
community know that they meet the strong and comprehensive standards of Better Business Bureau,
and strive to conduct their activities ethically and in accordance with donors’ intentions.
